A lot of children in South Africa do not have access to libraries and most of their parents cannot afford to buy books as they are already living below the poverty line. As such, the literacy gap in the country is huge and has led to under-performance of some of these children.
Funda-Nathi Foundation is a foundation that seeks to close the literacy gap by supporting communities and schools with books that children can read beyond the text reference book. It does this by partnering with schools and establishing community libraries.
The foundation collects the books and dispenses them to needy rural communities and schools.The foundation believes that every child deserves a bright future that they can write for themselves.

Our approach to raising literacy levels starts at a community level. Appropriate quality books are gifted to organisations operating in rural schools and communities.Apart from the historical, health, social, and educational disadvantage issues, many rural schools and communities don’t have many, if any, books.
Every child deserves a chance to read and write and your donations can make it possible. This is to develop the critical early foundation and skills needed by young children.
